Curriculum

We follow the Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth up to 5 years of age. Our curriculum covers all key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and is designed to meet the needs of each individual child.

Our guiding principle is to treat every child as an individual. We start to do this from the very moment you first introduce your child to the Nursery. With your help we understand their likes, dislikes and forming character, and we match them to a Key Person who will help them to settle in and make the most of their nursery days.

Your child’s Key Person will be your main point of contact with the Nursery. They will guide you through your child’s day and will work with you through such milestones as weaning, potty training and preparing for the transition to school. A Key Person helps your child to become familiar with the nursery setting and to feel confident and safe within it.

We keep detailed records on the development of all the children attending the nursery and your child’s is available to be viewed and discussed at any time. Each child has their own key person to enable them to feel reassured, safe and cared for within our setting.

Parent consultations can be arranged with your child’s key person at a time to suit an are an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress on an informal one to one basis. We always encourage parents to add details of their child’s experience and progress from outside the nursery to help keep these development records accurate.

Diaries are filled in on a daily basis for each child detailing important information, all parents also receive feedback at the end of each day outlining what their child has been doing during the day.

Our extra curricular activities include music, dance, football, cooking club, Spanish and external trips. We hold an annual sports day. We celebrate special events with fun activities like face painting, leavers ‘graduation’ party, Christmas party.

Parent’s evenings are held at least twice a year and are an opportunity for parents to discuss their child’s progress on a formal one to one basis.

In addition we also deliver parent sessions. Our parent sessions are intended to be informative and educational as well as fun. We cover a range of topics such as behaviour management, safeguarding, medicines policy and any other current topics that could be of interest.
